Meet Shannon
Hi! I’m Shannon, the Founder of Shaan Mentoring.
Breaking into the legal profession, especially as a Sikh woman, can feel daunting, and I know firsthand how challenging it can be. I had no family connections in law and came from a comprehensive state school background, so it took me several years and obstacles to eventually find my way.
Through resilience, cultivating a positive mindset, and building a supportive network, I successfully navigated the journey to studying LLB Law at The London School of Economics. 3 years later, I secured a prestigious Training Contract with Clyde and Co, a leading global law firm.
Having experienced both the highs and lows of my journey, my goal is now to give back to my community and share what I've learnt with other young Sikh female aspiring lawyers.
Whether you're applying for university, navigating the Training Contract process, or exploring the various legal career paths, I would love to help! I look forward to meeting you.
My Mission
I started Shaan Mentoring because I felt that Sikh women were often left behind in the legal profession, without the support, guidance, or resources needed to succeed. At university and during internships, law firm events, and vacation schemes, I often found myself as the only Sikh woman in the room. I wanted to change that and so I created a community where Sikh women could mentor and help each other without judgment or competition.
I believe that women are the ‘Shaan’ (pride) of our community and should feel ‘Anhad’ (limitless). The legal profession has historically lacked diversity and representation of Sikh women. Together, we can break barriers, support each other, and ensure we not only secure a seat at the table but also thrive in these spaces.
Guided by ‘Seva’ (selfless service), Shaan Mentoring makes mentorship accessible, empowering Sikh women to pursue law and inspiring the next generation of Sikh girls to become lawyers.
